Will your LED strip work with the controller?

The Wi-Fi LED controller is built for one specific kind of strip: 12V WS2815 addressable RGB. Buy the wrong type and it either won't light at all or can damage the controller — and LED strips are one of the most confusingly-labelled things you can order online. This five-question checker confirms your strip before you spend a dime.

What "12V WS2815 addressable" means

Addressable means every LED is individually controllable, which is what lets you run chases, meteors, and nav lights rather than one solid colour. WS2815 is the specific chipset — it runs on 12V and carries a backup data line so one dead LED doesn't kill the rest of the strip. That's different from WS2812B, which is 5V and far more common, so it's easy to buy by mistake.

What won't work

Standard non-addressable RGB strips, single-colour strips, 5V WS2812B strips, 24V strips, and analog strips with separate R/G/B channels are all incompatible. When in doubt, run the check or send the product link before ordering. Recommended strips are in the WS2815 buying guide.
