The Build Workspace

My Builds

Your airplane, not another calculator. Start a build here and every tool on the site — the designer, the checklist, the wiring, the numbers, the preflight — picks up where the last one left off, and hands its answers back. Keep as many aircraft as you like.

Free, no account, nothing sent to a server. Everything lives in this browser until you export it.

How this works

Four kinds of number, kept apart

A figure the designer worked out is not the same thing as a figure off a scale, and neither is the same as something proved in the air. This workspace labels every value so you always know which you are looking at:

  • Calculated estimate — a tool worked it out from what you told it. A starting point, never flown.
  • Manufacturer spec — the figure on the box. Not measured here.
  • You measured it — a scale, a wattmeter, a ruler. Better evidence than either of the above.
  • Proven in flight — it worked on this airplane, in the air.

A tool can only ever write the first two. It will never overwrite something you measured or flew, because the reason you wrote it down is that it is the better number. It is the same distinction the setup database uses for Eric’s own planes.

Nothing here needs an account. Your builds are stored by your browser, on your device. That means they survive closing the tab and coming back next week, but they do not follow you to another phone — which is what the export button is for. If enough people ask for builds that sync between devices, that is worth doing properly; until then, a file you own beats an account you have to keep.
